Selling your home? Nervous about your first open house? Staging your home can add property value and ends up putting more money in your pocket! A professional stager could be expensive but with a little hard work you can do the job yourself. Here are some tips and tricks on how to get your home looking beautiful!

 

Deep Clean Everything!

Making your house spotless is the first step to making sure your home is ready for an open house. Dusting, wiping down, vacuuming and mopping all surfaces is a must. Don’t forget to clean out the inside of your cabinets and drawers to because nosy home buyers will definitely take a peek inside your crowded refrigerator. Those crumbs inside your pantry could cost you $$$.

 

Repair and Replace

Have a leaky faucet you’ve been meaning to fix or a lightbulb in your closet whose flickering you’ve gotten used to? Fix them before your Open House!

 

Declutter!

Clutter is extremely distracting to some people. Make sure you don’t have anything lying about that might be aesthetically displeasing to your future buyers.

 

Outside Maintenance

You want the outside of your home looking absolutely perfect to entice buyers into envisioning themselves sitting on your front porch. Make sure the outside of your house has a fresh coat of paint and your gardens are freshly mulched and weeded

 

Professional Advice

What would the professional stager advise you to do? De-personalize everything try to limit any individual touches you have added to the house. Have a family photo laying around maybe put it away for the day. Love a certain political figure? It might be a good day to take down the campaign posters so you don’t offend a future buyer.

The most important thing to remember is to try to keep make home as neutral as possible so that buyers can envision adding their own personal touches onto your home. It might be a good idea to paint your walls neutral shades or place out towels and rugs that are neutral color palettes.
