A Thanksgiving Recipe You'll Be Sure to Love

Thanksgiving calls for making our favorite Fall dessert; Apple Cake with caramel drizzle and vanilla ice cream. Its easy, unique, and smells just and delicious as it tastes.

Here's what you'll need:

2 Cups Sugar

1 Cup Butter, melted to room temperature

2 Large Eggs

6 Apples of any variety

2 teaspoons baking soda

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1.5 teaspoons ground cloves

1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Caramel Sauce:

1 cup heavy whipping cream

.5 cup brown sugar

.5 cup granulated sugar

Making the Caramel Sauce:

  1. Place all of the caramel sauce ingredients in a large glass bowl and stir to combine.

  2. Fill a saucepan with about 2 inches of water and bring it to a boil. Turn it to a low simmer.

  3. Set a glass bowl over the saucepan (or use a double boiler) and simmer the sauce, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour.

  4. Pour into a jar. You can refrigerate this for up to two weeks.

Making the Cake:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fereheight.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together the butter and sugar.

  3. Mix in the eggs.

  4. Grate your apples. You can use a food processor or a simple box grater. No need to peel them!

  5. Stir in the freshly grated apple.

  6. In a separate bowl, mix together the dry ingredients. Add to the wet ingredients and mix.

  7. Bake in a greased 9x13 inch pan for 40-50 min, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.

Lastly, Allow the cake to cool for at least 10 minutes. Serve warm with caramel sauce and whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Let us know how it goes!

Hard to believe it’s Thanksgiving with Camellias in bloom!
