Here’s another unique find from one of our properties -- an in-home incinerator! Incineration is a waste treatment process that involves the combustion of organic substances contained in waste materials, converting the waste into ash, flue gas and heat.

Incinerators were in fashion a hundred years ago to produce your own heat and fuel for the home. However, with the development of new technology and new methods of waste disposal, in-home incinerators are no longer a part of houses' construction.
Although there is still debate, the “environment-friendly" impact of incineration is mostly considered low and the method itself is too dangerous to operate for an individual home. Because of this, most homes in the United States do not have incinerators anymore. Sometimes you can find one in an old home's basement, but it is rarely in use.
Does your home have an incinerator? Do you use it? Let us know in the comments below!
